I am curently running Mach3 Ver 3.043.037 and MSM 2.0.04 everything works perfect I am not sure there is a need to update, when I do decide to update what is the best way?
Use control panel and uninstall both Mach3 and MSM or Install over them with out removing first.
I do make copy of Mach3 Directory to my back device when ever I make a change to my setup.
Great screen set makes my Router very user friendly.
Thanks John

Hi John, I am curently running Mach3 Ver 3.043.037 and MSM 2.0.04 everything works perfect I am not sure there is a need to update, when I do decide to update what is the best way? I'm a great believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!". If your MSM use is primarily for a mill/router, then mach 3.43.37 has a good history of being stable and it has the critical mach bugs fixed in it (those that I consider a safety hazard). If your use is for a lathe, or for mill-turn (which is mach's lathe mode on a mill) then you really want to move to mach 3.43.66 as between .37 and .66 there are a lot of bug fixes for lathe operation and the interim mach versions all had one or more irritating lathe bugs. Use control panel and uninstall both Mach3 and MSM or Install over them with out removing first. The mach and MSM installs are 99.99% independent. I regularly change mach or MSM revs for testing purposes, there's no need to match them up. If MSM does not like the mach version it finds on start up it'll tell you (rather forcefully) - but that tends to only happen if you install a really old mach 3.43.xx (ex: 3.43.16 etc). The MSM installer will look at the currently installed MSM version and do an uninstall if it's needed. Most of the time it is not needed. The installer does force an uninstall when changing major version levels (MSM 1.x.x to MSM 2.x.x). No need to play with the control panel etc- just run the MSM installer and it'll do what's needed. I fyou want to manually uninstall MSM, there is a start menu uninstall link created when MSM in installed (saves people having to go into the control panel and play add/remove program games). I do make copy of Mach3 Directory to my back device when ever I make a change to my setup. That's a good backup disaster recovery plan for Mach. However, for MSM, don't try to copy back the mach directory and expect to also recover MSM as side effect. MSM is a complex install and it has to register libraries with the Operating system etc - so attempting to manually manage the (literally 100s of) MSM files is not a good idea. If you suspect you've clobbered MSM's guts, re-run the MSM installer to get a fresh MSM install. Great screen set makes my Router very user friendly. Thanks John Dave

Dave
I got busy and forgot to check back, thanks for the great info.
I do agree "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I will leave things as is for now...
John
