I tried to resolve the problem I had with activating MSM without success and have been using the standard mach3mill for some time. I recently changed my workshop PC and want to use MSM for some probing work, but each time I try to activate I now get a message "Activation fails" I have gone through the whole process several times with the same result. I don't have Internet in the workshop, but brought the PC into my study and tried to activate via the net. I then get a message activation failed with the code indicating I have no more activations. How do I recover the lost activation?
MSM versions etc:
Study PC MSM 1.1.11 Mach3 3.043.037 Windows Vista home premium
Workshop PC MSM1.1.11 Mach3 3.043.037 Windows XP Home

Hi, I then get a message activation failed with the code indicating I have no more activations. Both the proxy and online activation methods should show any error condition returned from the server. If the Proxy method did not display the error code, I'd like to know that so I can look into it. How do I recover the lost activation? An MSM license allows two simultaneous activated installations. The activations are really not "lost", they are "used". The license sever is saying that it has two activated installations for the license ID and hence will not complete the activation of a third. The process to recover ("un-use") an activation is to go to one of the PCs with an activated MSM installation and "Deactivate" that installation. Please refer to the user manual for detailed descriptions of deactivating an installation (section 16 in the MSM 2.0 manual). After deactivating an installation, the server will know that the license has an available activation, and you can then activate another PC with that license. If the Activated PCs no longer exist for some reason (the dog ate them etc), and therefore you can't deactivate them yourself, then you can contact me directly with your License ID info (so that we are not discussing your License ID info etc on a public forum) and explain what happened. Generally we've helped people out in that situation (as long as the reason is not "I just want some more PCs than I'm licensed for ). Dave
