Is MachStdMill compatible with the Mach3 add-on (licensed) wizards?
I have added a button which calls them up, exactly the button code from the 1024.set.
It opens the wizards, but then when I try to preview nothing happens, I then attempt to post the code and nothing happens. I then try to cancel and nothing happens. It's like the buttons go dead. I have to shut down and start over.
The standard wizards seem to work fine.

Yes, MachStdMill works with the newfangled wizards. I don't think I've ever tried the button code from the 1024 screen set. When I want to use them, I just use the "pick wizard" button from the MSM load page, the mach wizard dialog opens, I select the newfangled wizards and they run fine.
Just to make sure, I opened the paid wizards and posted code from the circle wizard to MSM 2.0 just before writing this message.

I looked and the button in 1024 just does OEM code 321 - I then opened the script editor from MSM and created a single line program:
DoOEMButton(321)
That runs and opens the NFS wizards for me.

Opening it is not the problem. Actually getting it to generate is where I'm having a issue.
Post works fine when I use the 1024 screens set. I'll try the circle and others tonight. I've been attempting the rectangle drill pattern wizard.
I'll also put the original machstdmill set back. I missed seeing that newfangled was in the standard wizard list.

Hi, I just did the rectangular hole wizard - posted fine.
In general, I'd not expect any MSM specific problem for a wizard because MSM is not involved in any of that sequence... the MSM pick wizard button just asks mach to open the mach pick wizard dialog; Mach display the installed wizards; user picks one from the dialog; Mach opens the wizard selected; the wizard does what it does; wizard unloads and mach reloads the main screen set (MSM in this case) So MSM is just showing the data that mach has when it it loaded back up. Since MSM is not processing the eizard sequence, it's hard to think of a way MSM could break it.
At the moment, I don't have an idea as to why it's not working for you.
One question: When you say you "added a button" to run the NFS wizard, you did that via the MSM customization instructions in the user manual - right? I ask as it's somewhat common for someone to attempt to edit the MachStdMill.set file directly (rather than follow the documented customization steps)- if that is what was done to add a button, you won't get the wanted results... eventually, MSM will step on the direct set file edit and put back it's master set file.

uh no, I used Klaus MachScreen.... I haven't read the manual yet... Just Printed it. And I did directly edit it. The button stayed though.
I'll put the original back and try again tonight, through the standard wizard list.

Hi, Using that approach, you can add a button, and it will work for a bit - but it will disappear the next time you change MSM's screen resolution or install an MSM update (as MSM will replace the MachStdMill.set file).
While this will not impact the button action issue we're trying to figure out, I didn't want you to be surprised later when you find the button has disappeared...

ok, I learned that it's the tool selection drop down within the wizard that kills it. Again it works fine with 1024...
The list looks corrupt. It's displaying xml along with the title of the tool. How do I wipe out and recreate the tool file.
Your prompt responses are pretty much guaranteeing my purchase when the trial runs out.
The probe stuff is awesome.

Ah, I found the issue - I hadn't noticed this before.
You're using the "Select Tool from Table" button - right?
The Tool table is not corrupt, there is XML stored inside the tool descriptions (it's how MSM extends the tool table to implement extended tool attributes). This is what causes the tool description to be funny looking.
However, the only thing you can do with the dialog the button present is to pick a row from the table: i.e. set the tool number to use. If you select a row and click OK, you'll see the Tool # Dro change. An alternative is to click the tool# DRO, then change the number to the tool you want (then you don't see the XML text).
Either way, once the tool number is selected, I can then go on and the wizard posts code OK.
To make the table description text appear correct to the human operator, the NFS wizard would need to realize that it's running under MSM, and use an MSM call to get the tool description text to display - apparently it does not do this. The method MSM uses to extend the tool table was decided by Brian and I about 2.5+ years ago (early in the MSM project) - it was originally a temp solution to get extended tool table attributes in mach v3 that were (are?) supposed to exist in mach V4.
I am afraid that this will have to be a minor incompatibility between the wizard and MSM (As I don't have an practical alternative way to implement the extended tool table on V3). At least there is a work around to the issue.

My installation does not hang up - I can select a tool either by selecting a row in the table or by using the DRO. Both change the the tool # Dro and after that I can click continue and then post, then exit and when I'm back in MSM, the posted code is loaded in mach. Dave
