Please respond because i'm going to get a computer in the AM. I was reading a post on cnc zone, said somthing about running , 2kz mode, 100khz mode, probly at least 1 g of ram, reason being my compter to the mill crashed setting up a network, and it was maxed out, even at what mach 3 claims it will run on. I'm not going to fix it, I can get a better one cheaper. I'll get a clean install, and keep it off the net. should I get a 64 bit?, and should I put the service packs in? And Please, How many KHZ should I be running? I guesss xp is good, but should I put any thing else on it besides mach 3, msm, and xp, with or without the service pack, and I'll run a network, Thanks,Cnccuz

Hi,
For a PC, MSM does not have any requirements above or different than those of Mach itself. So your questions are really about what type of PC to get for Mach - there are various opinions about that -
I suggest that you look at the Machsupport.com com site where the requirements for Mach are listed - scroll down to the "system requirements" section of that page.
Some other things to think about: 1) always run mach at the lowest kernel speed that will run your CNC machine. It is not recommended to set the mach kernel speed higher than necessary (it does not make anything faster to do that). The minimum kernel speed is a function of your machines mechanics, acis drives, motors, encoder, drivers etc.
2) If you want to use mach's Parallel port driver, you have to stay with a 32 bit system and not 64 bit. The mach parallel port driver oly works on 32 bit PCs.
Beyond these general points, I can't really be of very much help.
