Hello again Dave, just full of questions ;D
i have kl 5056D drivers, on the driver there is a switch setting that allow for all kinds of micro setting. mach3 has a setting for setting steps/units.
one of the settings on the driver is such i could get 4000 steps per inch. to me that would would work out to 0.001" per step on a 200 turns per inch ball screw.
if this true, i'm not sure how things interact with mach3 settings?

Hi, I was out of town for the holiday weekend, so a bit of a delay in responding... It's been a while since I walked thru the calcs for a machine drive line. The attached may be of help (or it may only be confusing) - it is a small spread sheet I dug up that I used to calculate the initial settings for mach for a stepper driven machine. Blue numbers are inputs, back are calculated values. You an look at the cells to get the formulas. Dave Attachments:
