Using MSM V2.0.0 Personal - Turn under Win XP with a Centipede controller and Mach3 3.43.62.
On the hardware page, the LED for the timing sensor on the spindle is ghosted out and does not indicate the state of the input.

Hi, Reaching into my memory banks here - I believe Mach stopped using the "timing" input signal sometime back (as the 2.x to 3.x time frame?). As far as I know, it no longer exits in mach.... I probably should have removed the LED from the screen set hardware signals page, but didn't. One reason I didn't is that the "timing" signal still appears in the ports & Pins dialog. Off the top of my head I don't remember if there is a mach LED for that signal that I could display.
In any case, I believe that mach only looks at the "Index" input now. I know that "index" is what mach uses to see and report RPM and what is used to sync threading.

Mach3 stopped using the timing input for the parallel port because of performance issues but hardware-based interfaces such as the Centipede are still using timing sensors successfully.
The standard screen set still displays activity on the timing input.
This machine uses an index pulse and a 100 pulse-per-rev encoder for threading.

OK, my glasses must be dirty today... I'm looking at the 1024 screen set and I'm not seeing the timing input... On the diagnostics page I see a LED column with an index LED, but not a timing LED.
Could you point me to the timing led in the 1024 screen set?
If I can find the Mach LED number for the timing signal, I could add it to the HDW signals page.

Ah, whoops - small miscommunication here I think... When you said: The standard screen set still displays activity on the timing input. I had thought you were saying a LED for the timing signal is displayed by the 1024 screen set. I wasn't asking where it is on the MSM page (that I knew ) - What I was looking for was the Timing LED in the 1024.set (the mach stock) screen set. If it is there, I can find out what the magic LED # is that mach uses to show the timing input signal. The MSM screen page shows the light gray square because there is not actually a Mach LED on the MSM page for Timing (because I haven't found the magic number for that LED yet - assuming it exists). Hi, I found the # for the Timing LED - I'll add the LED in the next release of MSM.

Thanks.
That was a picture of the standard screen set, on the left of the image...

Ah, that's what puzzled me - my mistake. I was looking at the 1024.set file instead of the 1024.lset file (I forgot which sub-forum you posted in). Apparently the timing LED is used in the 1024 Lset (lathe) but not the Set (mill) file. Dave Thanks. That was a picture of the standard screen set, on the left of the image...
